چکیده

One of the major problems in Monte Carlo based methods for global illumination is noise. This paper investigates adaptive sampling as a method to alleviate the problem. We introduce a new reÞnement criterion, which takes human perception and limitations of display devices into account by incorporating the tone-operator. Our results indicate that this can lead to a signiÞcant reduction in the overall RMS-error, and even more important that noisy spots are eliminated. This leads to a very homogeneous image quality. As most adaptive sampling techniques our method is biased. In order to investigate the importance of this problem, a nonparametric bootstrap method is presented to estimate the actual bias. This provides a technique for bias correction and it shows that the bias is most signiÞcant in areas with indirect illumination.

Congestion estimation of router input ports in Network-on-Chip for efficient virtual allocation

Effective and congestion-aware routing is vital to the performance of network-on-chip. The efficient routing algorithm undoubtedly relies on the considered selection strategy. If the routing function returns a number of more than one permissible output ports, a selection function is exploited to choose the best output port to reduce packets latency. In this paper, we introduce a new selection s...

Modified Impedance-Based OOS Protection Based on On-Line Thévenin Equivalent Estimation

In this paper, a novel approach based on the Thévenin tracing is presented to modified conventional impedance-based out-of-step (OOS) protection. In conventional approach, the OOS detection is done by measuring positive sequence impedance. However, the measured impedance may be change due to different factors such as capacitor bank switching and reactive power compensators that it can cause the...

An Optimized Online Secondary Path Modeling Method for Single-Channel Feedback ANC Systems

This paper proposes a new method for online secondary path modeling in feedback active noise control (ANC) systems. In practical cases, the secondary path is usually time-varying. For these cases, online modeling of secondary path is required to ensure convergence of the system. In literature the secondary path estimation is usually performed offline, prior to online modeling, where in the prop...

A Comparative Study of Performance of Adaptive Web Sampling and General Inverse Adaptive Sampling in Estimating Olive Production in Iran

Nowadays, there is an increasing use of sampling methods in network and spatial populations. Although the most common link-tracing designs such as adaptive cluster sampling and snowball sampling have advantages over conventional sampling designs such as simple random sampling and cluster sampling, these designs still present many drawbacks. Adaptive web sampling is a new link-tracing design tha...
